Does anyone know if sky can detect a box moved to different address if you dont plug in the phone line? A mate had a dish (left by previous tennant) but no box and sometimes its annoying that he doesnt have sky when im round there. If i take my box and plug it in it works but sometimes just stops working wwe dont plug in the phone line, any ideas?

Providing your own subscription at your house doesn't have the multiroom package, you'll be fine to take the digibox and card to your mates. No telephone line required at either location unless multiroom is being used.

or you are still within a contract term which required the 'phone line to be connected

Will make no difference at all - until (or if) you receive at least two warning letters from Sky - which is unlikely unless the box is on multiroom subscription.

It is most likely that there is a problem with his dish (misaligned), lnb (failing) or cabling (water ingress, poor connections, kinked, broken internal cable or pinched) .
