I want a cheap AV receiver for my bedroom, I only want 5.1 but, I also want to be able to feed a pair of speakers that will be in the barthroom. Do I just need an amp with front A/B speaker switching?

if you cant find an AV amp with two pairs of speaker outputs, you could use an external switching box. that wont cost you much and could be obtained from maplins and the like.

Some 7.1 receivers can be setup as a 5.1 system and the spare surround back outputs can then be set to zone 2 ie 2 speakers in the bathroom. You can even use the zone 2 to play a CD while wating a DVD in the main room etc.

    Mark.
