Escuse me if it is a stupid question!

But I realy want to know, it may influence my decision to by one (or not).
And if so, can it funcion well as a mobile phone, or is it to many things in one 'gadget'!?
Does it needs some kind of an extra card to do that?

Thanks in advance for any answer

A few years ago I was doing some testing with an old 3 series ipaq, a PCMCIA sleeeve and a nokia gsm pcmcia card ... whole lot was hooked together with a software package whose name escapes me but worked really well as a mobile phone ... allowed me to use the ipaq address book as my phone directory and did sms mesages as well ...

not sure what the current models offer in terms of sleeves/built in functionality ...

There's always the 02 ipaq with it all built in ... might be worth seeing about special offers or new models ?

My 5450 does have a simcard holder under the battery, but lacks the software to act as a phone, shame as would be a great idea, the blackberrys can be used as a phone i recall.
