I have a pair of wall light sockets but haven't installed anything yet. I've seen 2 wall lamps that look nice but they are actually mains lights - i.e., they have a plug on the end.

Can I simply cut off the plug and the cord and instead, wire them directly into the wall sockets?

Thanks!

This is the wall socket in question...

A lot of wall lights that plug into the mains have a transformer built into the plug. So if you wanted to wire it direct to the mains you would have to replicate this transformer in the connection to the mains. So may not be as easy as just cutting off the plug.

If the plug is just an ordinary plug and not a transformer though it should be fine.
