    Lo folks,

    Just curious on this one.

I have ADSL (512MB), a USB ADSL modem, and a 10/100 LAN card in my PC. I woudln't mind playing on xbox live, however I don't really fancy shelling out a fair bit on a dedicated router for the purpose.

Would xbox live work if I plugged in my xbox into the NIC on the PC then used NAT or ICS?

the PC is of a decent spec to do NAT etc not that I think that matters too much.

Yes This is one of the options that xbox give you to connect
the only prob is you need your pc to be on at all times to allow the link also there is a piece of sofware you may need to down load to make this work

Personally I would go for the router option I paid £50 max for my router off ebay now you can be contantly connected using a cat lead you can now get these very cheaply now on Ebay for as little as £20. The ADSL router modem i have is called ETEC usb/10/100
    easy to install

Also I have been told that the PC link can Make the link slower
causing lag in the game witch is a bit of a pain

try the links below should explain all
