    Hello,
I have a problem that I would think is far from unusual. I have a Sony DCR TRV110E digital camera and I want to set it up to monitor an area of my garden. When the subject that I want to video comes in to view I want to activate the record function using the remote control. Unfortunately after 3 minutes of being in standby mode the camera switches off. I understand why it does this, to preserve battery power and the tape heads. However I then need to continually approach the camera to switch it back it to standby mode, which is totally impractical for what I am trying to do. Is there a way that the camera can be switched back in to standby mode using the remote? or can the 3 minute switch off function be overcome?

    Any advice appreciated,
    Dave

The only way that comes to my mind is to take off the tape from the camera (this way it will be always ON) and hook a (long ?) cable from its analog output to your VCR...
