Hi guys.
Im going out to buy the Onkyo txnr414 tomorrow. I currently have an all-in-1 DVD system and Im gonna use the centre, front and rear speakers (I assime I can do this) until I have the money to buy a new set... My question is can I use my subwoofer too

If the speakers are within the Onkyo's specifications you can use them, and the same with the bass unit.
And good choice.

The sub woofer would be a no as you need a powered sub with 99.999% of AV amps. Speaker impedance is Ok but if they are from an all-in-one I would take the 140watt with a massive pinch of salt.

the subwoofer connects to DVD/amp by 2 speaker wires.... Is this compatible with the Onkyo?
No, that means it's not powered, which the Onkyo like most amps does need.
As Andy says the speakers are OK, but won't be giving you all the power you might have with others.

My local gumtree has a Yamaha Yst105 for £30.... Any idea wat its like. All I know is its discontinued, but surely its better than nothing?? Or will I just hold out and get a full set of speakers?

It's powered, and looks pretty high specced, so why not?:)
