hi, I'm assuming that I can just plug a firestick in the spare HDMI port on the back of our projector (it has 3 HDMI ports) rather than having to run it through the blu-ray player? We currently watch all our tv through a Panasonic blu-ray HDD and while I player and Netflix work quite well it would be handy to have access to Amazon prime and some of the other on demand channels.
Sorry, this is probably a really obvious question...
    Thanks
    Sam

I see no reason why you cannot. Assuming it can be powered by its normal route

Should work for image, but problem would be getting any sound. With the image going direct to the projector there would be nothing to receive a sound signal

I meant that the stick will need to have a power supply (USB or plug?)
But as poster above has said sound may be a problem too.

Does the projector have Audio Out, do you have an AVR in the room with the projector

Hi, the answer is definatley yes.
I run a firestick with Kodi loaded, it's actually plugged into my Panasonic surround sound system which in turn continues into my Optoma projector.
Kodi allows me to stream my movies from a Seagate 3tb nas centre without effort. And allows me to stream the latest movies directly from the net.

I have also plugged the firestick directly into the projector and it works brilliantly...just no sound.

Hi. So what would I need to buy, aside from a HD projector and projector screen to run firestick (kodi enabled) through the projector?

Could you give a few more details about your setup?
What are you using for sound?

Plugging the firestick into the projector will mean you'd only get sound from the projector's built in speaker (assuming it has one).

Ideally you'd use the firestick plugged into an HDMI input on an amp/receiver for decent sound.

Plugging one into a TV works because most TVs have amplification and speakers.

Hi all I know I haven been here for a while and a question was asked..sorry.. been busy. My setup is now a optoma w307ust DLP 3D Projector, Which is plugged into a Panasonic SC-HTB20. The amazon fire stick is plugged into the Panasonic which produces a fantastic sound.

Hi there Im currently in the same predicament as you, Im purchasing a optoma pj with hdmi input for ps4, sky etc then going to run audio direct from them into my sound set up, but how do you run your firestick through a HDMI in your soundbar? As previously posted if I plug my firestick into the projector I will get no sound as I dont have a audio out on the pj.

I can't think of a simple way to do it with a soundbar, obviously it's easier with a receiver.

You need something that can switch between sources, so some kind of HDMI switcher.
Then you need to feed the output of the switcher to both the projector and the sound bar, so you need two HDMI outputs.

    Perhaps something like this?
    Neet® HDMI TRUE MATRIX - 4K 4 Input 2 Output Switch: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics
Obviously do your research first to find out if it will work, but that one gets great reviews.

Think I'm going to head down the av receiver route, would be the easier to plug all my inputs (firestick PS4 etc) into the av via hdmi then run a hdmi out the av to projector?

Yes, definitely the way to do it.

Audio and video will be switched together, so it's simpler... and better because the video and audio won't have to pass through multiple devices on their way to the projector and receiver, just the one.
