For my small apartment, I am thinking if I can configure 8 cameras with built in wifi and Memory card and completely avoid the NVR business.

The only objective is to be able to view the video clips against any investigation and not for proactive monitoring using some monitor.

Over the direct wifi, I can view the video content from my APP on my laptop or smartphone.

Any info on the topology and devices would be helpful.

Thanks all,

Problem I can see when using a security camera with onboard memory for recording the video is a burglar would/could just steal the camera especially if they are internal, using an NVR will at least allow you to place it somewhere where it is less likely to be found (locked cupboard etc.) unless you can successfully conceal the cameras from view that is.

Just my thoughts.

I don't see the issue really, it's unlikely a thief, especially an opertunist would know you were using SD's and not an NVR/Cloud.

Plus they would have to take ALL the cameras.

i really rate the Foscam cameras, the new G series such as the G4 (4mp) record on SD, have human detetion and work with Alexa now.
