My wife and 2nd child passports both expire in September, is it possible for them to travel to Slovakia in August or will they require new passports?

Thanks

Not according to the FCO

Passport validity

For stays of up to 3 months your passport should be valid for the proposed duration of your stay; you do not need any additional period of validity on your passport beyond this.

Keep an eye on the renewals though. I think, if they do expire so you effectively have to get new ones, the cost goes up and they may need to attend interviews at a Passport Office.
