Can I take sky card and box to friend's house?

Hi all,
Quick question - would appreciate any help.
I'm staying at a friends over Xmas and he has the basic sky package (he's just downgraded from HD).
I want to take my sky hd box and card so that I can watch sports and movies - will this work if I just connect up my box and card?
Edit - I have the full sky package with hd - would I be able to watch in hd as well?
Cheers
Dave

I thought you had to pair the card to the box to get full access .And that you wouldn't get the premium channels by doing this, but everything else would be ok ?
