Can I plug this dvd player strt into ae100?

    Yep, it should work with the AE100.

    Superb picture? - don't know about that.

    It'll probably output a VGA (800x600) signal, possibly Wide 480 with NTSC (like my old Nintaus).

    Alot depends on the quality of the player itself. TBH, can't see it being better than any other cheap/mid-range player.

    Worth a shot I suppose - your money :D

    because its got vga out can i use a vga lead like i use to connect my laptop to my projector - and connect thru the pc socket to get a good pic.

    The picture from my laptop is awesome!!

    Sure you an, but that's not to say that VGA output is some magic wand that automatically transforms your picture to the equivalent of a high end DVD player, or a HCPC. The output will still only be as good as the player, which may be a serious bargain or may be pants, it'd be fascinating to know!
