Can I plug a usb key onto PS3 to play movies?

    As title says . . I Download (a non copyright protected) video in say .avi or.wma is it possible to shove it on a usb key and plug and play on ps3 for playback on my main tv??

    Trying to avoid the streaming route

    Yes. But you are better off copying it over first to avoid slightly choppy video.

    Next silly question is, does the ps3 have an inbuilt media player? if yes what file types does it support??



    also, i tried searching this in the search bar . .its horrible to find things :(

    Never had a problem with that, except for a 20GB file.

    A 2GB one was fine yesterday.

    Yeah i don't see why that would ever happen, no matter what size the file, as long as the transfer rate from the USB stick is high enough..

    i do this all the time ...
    a mate will dl a movie...

    i'll then go and nick/copy it with a usb stick
    and i'll just play straight from that (usb)

    ps..the ps3 will not play mk2 file's
    but you should be fine with anything else
