    Hi there

I'm looking for a bit of advice and wonder if anyone can help me.

I've got a Sony DAV DZ700 surround system (wireless rears and DVD player). I am looking to buy a DVD recorder (probably the Sony HXD870).

Will I be able to set the system up so that the recorder plays through the existing DVD player / amplifier?

Also, which will give me the better quality playback? Sticking with my existing DVD player or playing the visual output from the recorder directly to the TV and audio through the amp?

the 870 has digital coax output for sound so as long as the HTS has a coax input then you a ok. I would expect the 870 to have better quality playback of DVD's than the HTS providing you connect it directly to your TV (preferably via HDMI).
