Can I insist $ky do not change the firmware on my HD Box

Hi all,

Since the recent update to the firmware on my HD box I've noticed that it locks up a lot more and also resets itself with more frequency. Before the update it hardly ever crashed and never reset itself.

Now I understand that the box may have been "subsidised" by $ky (but I doubt that as it cost £399 when I bought it).

My question is, when the 12 month contract expires on May 22nd, can I insist that $ky leave my box alone, (assuming that by this time they have fixed the latest bugs)...? is the box legally my property...?

The box is your property from the start as its not rented.

However, by using a sky viewing card you are agreeing to the T&C's and I bet withing that is some clause somewhere that says that you agree that they can update the firmware/software whenever they like :(
