I have a Denon 4311 and was pleased with the bi-amp setup (maybe the 'improved' sound was psychological, but I was happy with it).

But I found that I had to give up my bi-amping when I introduced a Zone 2, and members of this forum confirmed that was to be expected.

My question now is can I have both bi-amping in Zone 1 AND regular sound in Zone 2 by adding an amplifier, using the 4311 as a preamp for the extra Left/Right output?

Any advice would be appreciated.

The receiver doesn't unfortunately facilitate the assignment of the unused amps to both bi-amping and second audio zone use. You can only assign the back amps to either purpose and there's no means by which to use other internal amps for these tasks.

There's a set of stereo second zone pre outs for connection of an amp. Use them.

Many thanks - sounds like I can use th3 pre-amp with a new amp for Zone 2 and then I can bi-amp in the main Zone again. That would be great.
