    Hi all,

im really stuck. I have a PS2 and an XBOX and a gamecube will (hopefully) be arriving soon. I only have one rgb scart - so is there anyway for me to get svideo through a scart for ANY of these systems???

Also, i do have an amp. its a sony db940 - however, when i connect the amp to my svideo socket i get mad interferance no matter the quality of the lead. What would happen if i used an svideo to scart lead from the amp to the tv???

    Thanks in advance guys

    Hi,
You don't say what other connections you have on your TV. If you have a spare S-Video connection then you can get an S-Video lead for any of the three consoles (you might have to get an import lead for the X Box/GC). Alternatively you can run S-Video from the consoles to the Amp and then an S-Video to Scart from the amp to TV. This is what I have done with my X-Box because I found the RGB lead to give a very dark picture. I don't get any interference. I am using an QED Sqart Scart to S-Video lead.

A better option might be to buy a Scart controller like the Quattro+. This is a superb piece of kit that allows you to connect three RGB Scarts plus a non-RGB Scart and an S-Video connection. I use one of these for my PS2, DC, N64 and will be adding in the GC soon.

Thanks - at the mo i only have the one svideo socket on the front of my set. Three scarts to the rear 1 rgb 2 svideo.

Im worried though cos, like i said my amp causes wavy lines on AV4 when i plug the svideo lead into the front of the tv. It only ever happens when i plug the amp in - and the interference only happens on AV4. So im baffled.

Hopefully going svideo to scart will get around this!!

    Thanks again

A couple more things to be aware of.

    1. S-Video - Scart leads are directional so you need to make sure you get one that is S-Video to Scart and not the other way round. I can recommend the QED Sqart but it is a bit pricey.

    2. You will probably find that only one of your other two Scart sockets is set-up for S-Video so make sure you use the right one.

    Good luck!

Hope you aren't having the problems mentioned elsewhere on the forum.

I have just checked the spec on the Sony website and both AV2 and AV3 are S-Video compatible on your television.

    Cheers.

    I use a £5 Logic 3 Playstation 2 to S-video lead and a £10 S-video to SCART adapter on AV3 of my Sony KV32FX60.
Works very well, noticably better than composite and not much different from RGB (my RGB SCART socket being occupied).

I solved this problem in a very similar way to the post above: bought a PS2 S-Video cable and a scart adaptor. I got both from Lik Sang - both, delivered from Hong Kong for about a tenner all in. Pretty quick delivery as well.

    Check it out:

    S Video cable

    Scart adaptor

    Works well for me.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Ashearer,

Can you tell me where I can get hold of a Quattro+? I have the same problem and a Scart controller with multiple RGB inputs is exactly what I want.

    Thanks in advance
