    Motty,

    Thanks for the reply.

Is there anywhere on the high street which provides this kind of service?

    Any ideas or pointers?

Its something I need to get converted on the hurry up, price not too much of a problem.

david if you have a usb 2.0 connection on your pc i would go
the belkin or avermedia dvd route because with the speeds of
usb2 it is getting easier to transfer footage.

I did read a review from some bloke i forgot where he got sonic my dvd to transfer about 19 old vhs tapes to dvd with ok results.

Neo dvd claim there software can encode vhs to dvd alot quicker
    than other leading brands.

Try belkins website and avermedia's websit for more details.

But beware avermedia's product does not support certain motherboards so check the site.

I am off to pc world to get belkins product and will post on here my results through the week.

personally, i think those products are a bit of a waste of money. most things in pc world are :) it seems to be the simple mans approach and will never equal the quality of using a proper capture board and learning how to use it. also a very good vcr is handy. obviously that route is more expensive, but i always say if you're gonna do something, you might's well do it properly.

i know people who've used standalone dvd recorders to a decent enough result, maybe you could hire one david? simplest and fastest approach anyway.
