I am buying it soon and would like to do video capture on a G4 with firewire port...I have the cable already but it only states on the Panasonic website that there is a DV out connection adn thats it, is this firewire compatible? Is it actually Firewire?

    Thanks,
    Xavier

I think all digital camcorders these days have DV out which I believe means you can transfer your digital video onto your PC for editing. However, most of the time you need to buy a Firewire card for your PC (Firewire and iLink are the same thing).

You will be able to do this with the G4 but you will not be able to get the edited video back onto your camcorder as there is no DV in. I think only the G5 can do this.

    Hope this helps

    ;)

    Thanks Louise!

I only produce videos for the web so the DV in is not an issue...
