I'm in the middle of setting up a Sony STRDH820 receiver and was wondering if I connected the component lead from the Wii to the receiver and the audio connections to the corresponding sockets on the back of the receiver, would this work? I'm going to have a HDMI cable going from the output on the receiver to the tv - I'm sure I read somewhere that this would also carry the visual signal from the Wii to the television.

Many thanks.

Yes that should work just fine.

Cheers, fella :)

I've done the same, it will work.

Will connecting your Wii this way via the amp upscale the 480p picture to 1080p?

Derek

I've only watched the menu screen on it so far! I connected everything up over the weekend and just wanted to make sure everything was set up correctly. Sound and picture are coming through successfully based on the connections I mentioned in the opening post. I'll have a play tonight and get back to you on that, Derek.

I'm hoping that it does upscale, as the picture is being carried to the tv by the HDMI cable.
