Can I connect a GC to a HDMI monitor?

:lease:
My son has just gone to uni and I've kitted him our with a PC. Now he wants to use his Gamecube!!!

My question is, is there any way I can connect it to the TFT monitor, which has a spare HDMI input?

I notice that the Gamecube has a digital output and hope I can utilise this.

If it is possible, anyone know where I can get a suitable cable?

Thanks!

If he has PAL versions of the games, it'd probably be easier and cheaper to buy a 14" TV. I can't think of an easy way to connect to a hdmi TFT. There are plenty of ways to hook up via VGA cable, but he'd need NTSC version of games for some of those.

Does he have a TV card with video inputs on his PC? That might be a way if space is an issue.

Hope I've been helpful,
Chris

Many thanks!

You say there are VGA options. Can you expand on these, please, as that may be a possibility.

There are three options I think:

Options 1 & 2 require use of NTSC US/JAP Progressive Scan games and require use of the original GC av cable to get sound output.

1. Buy a GC component cable and a component to vga transcoder, more expensive but means other consoles can be used on the monitor.
2. Buy a modified GC VGA cable from Goldenshop. Golden Shop Gamecube VGA Cable
3. Buy an something like an XGA box, which will work with PAL games but image quality is not as high as previous two options.

I have recently started using a TFT and have swapped out all my PAL games for NTSC versions, quite easy to do on Ebay, and as a student he'll also find NTSC games cheaper in general.

You could even check out getting a NTSC Gamecube so no need for Freeloader to play NTSC games. I am evening selling one right now. ;)

Hope this helps,
Chris
