I've searched the usual places, and there is not much variation in price, so I wondered if there was any way to buy one from a US (or Hong Kong) shop whilst you are in the UK and save a bit?

The pound is strong against the dollar at the moment too, but without a US trip planned for this year I'll to capitalise on that with an online store that ships reliably to the UK if anyone knows of any.

I'd strongly suggest gritting your teeth and buying the body in UK/Europe.

    According to Nikon's website...

"Nikon digital products sold in Europe have a warranty which is honoured by Nikon European offices in the countries listed below, this warranty is not supported by Nikon offices outside of Europe. Nikon digital products sold outside of Europe also have localised warranties and are not supported in Europe."

This applies apparently to digital bodies. I BELIEVE (please check though), that lenses have an international warranty.

    Damn !

    Very useful info, thanks

That's definitely the sticky point to it all (warranty)

stick to the uk for your body, lenses can be bought from HK etc as they tend to have international warranties. Check out here for prices

That's quite surprising isn't it - I usually write off Jessops as being overpriced and also because the staff in my local store have been rubbish everytime I've been silly enough to go in there.

May be time to reconsider though.

My D50 was bought from cameras2u.com, which, I think, is trading name of Jessops actually, so they got my business one way or another !

With the right voucher codes, Jessops can be pretty keenly priced these days on headline stuff. They make the money back on things like memory cards

As for the service...well I couldn't possibly comment about if any of the examples of useless service in a nearby thread relate to Jessops ;)

Looks like the "Jessops5" code gives the most off of the body, bringing it down to about £775.

Just need to sell my D50 now otherwise I may incur the wrath of the 'management' !

I presume the Nikon lenses for my D50 will be ok on a D200 ? (18-70 kit lens, and something-200mm lens - both Nikon)

BTW - thanks for the heads up on the camera price comparison site. I'd never seen that before, and it's very useful (if not dangerous!)

    Nice price!

Yeah, all D50 lenses will be fine on the D200 (in fact the D200 supports the older AI and AIS lenses as well). Don't forget though that you'll need CF cards, and the battery is different. My D200 really likes the Sandisk Extreme III, but gets upset with my older slower Lexar cards. You won't gain anything going up to the Extreme IV though as it exceeds the D200 write speed.

Don't get too excited - the jessops5 code won't work for DSLRs,;)

I'm sure I stumbled across somewhere selling them for £709 - body only of course.
I can't seem to find it now but I'll keep looking.

Edit - Nah, I must have dreamt it or it was a recon somewhere.

You're right, bugger :suicide: Have to use one of the 'madness' codes - the difference will be minimal

I think the code you need is "NHS192" which gives 5% off I think. Some items are reserve and collect too
