Can anyone recommend a 4 input (separate tracks same time) Audio Interface?

Ideally 1/4 inch jacks for guitar and also sockets for mics.

I want to be able to record 3 guitars at the same time and maybe a mic as well all on separate tracks in software (not doubled up or mixed together as one track).

I have an Alesis io4, but I believe it to be faulty and will be returning it unless anyone can help here:

Thanks for any tips / ideas.

I'm not knowledgeable as other members, but I use Tascam DR-680 to record audio. Have a research and see if that suits you.

Looks very nice but far too overkill for me and the price, golly!

What's your budget and do you have any existing recording software?

Under £200, but nearer £100 if possible. I have an iMac 2009 model (8gb of RAM, core duo intel processor, firewire & usb) and I have Logic Pro 9.

Ok for that budget you're looking at an interface with 2 mic pre-amps and 2 or more line inputs. I'd always recommend Focusrite gear as their pre-amps are right up there with the best. My money would be on this one:

Focusrite Saffire PRO 14 Firewire Audio Interface | DV247

The price is showing in Euros for me but it should be around £150-160. Firewire is also a bonus as most units in this price range are usb :smashin:

Looks good, just not quite enough guitar inputs though. I need 3, but that one has 2 unless I buy a DI box for one of the rear inputs, is that correct?

That's correct but you'll only find interfaces with 2 or 4 pre amp inputs. If you go up to the 4 category you can probably add another £100 on to the price. Budget wise it makes sense to just use a DI box on the line input channels :smashin:
