I have looked but couldn't find info, such as weight, material that they are built (I think aluminiun), etc. Thanks in advance.

Hi, the Calliope stands are made from three major parts: The foot, the pole and a Y piece holding the speaker.

The foot is made from heavy, black painted, sand casted iron. The pole is a natural anodised aluminium extrusion. The Y fork is again made from black painted, sand casted iron.

The manufacturing processes define the surface smoothness with the pole being "very smooth" whereas the base and the Y piece are "rough".

Speaker cables can be run inside the pole and under the base to disguise them completely. One could also fill the pole with sand, but that's more a "dedicated" audiophile's proposition.

You can connect the Calliope speaker with the stand using spikes or fix it by screws (which is the neater and child-safe solution). The stand connect to the ground using either spikes or rubber feet (the latter being the more beautiful solution, in my opinion).

In the mind of the designers (of which I am one [IMG] ) the Calliope stand suits perfectly the stylish Calliope speaker. Particularly the fact that it leans backwards, make them very contemporary looking.

    Hope this helps...

The only thing missing from the reply is that Udo knows where they can be bought! :D

IAG told me they don't have any and numerous searches have failed to turn up any.

If anyone know of any for sale please let me know :lease:

Its got to worth a try I guess....... although I bet design rights are now owned by IAG and the actual manufacturer will be unable to supply them direct :(

Udo, is there any information you can give on sourcing the stands?

    Thanks

I guess the chance of finding Calliope stands on there own is as slim as finding bass modules on their own :(

    Hello all
There is still a pair left at the ex Swiss distributor of TMA called montana-audio if anybody is interested.
    They're rather pricy though...
    Cheers

Err, yes they are rather........

More than the retail price WITH VAT in the UK I think. The last retail price list I have shows them at £599 incl VAT. These are offered at about £650 + VAT if my conversion is correct + delivery to uK of course:thumbsdow

Maybe I'll wait and see if any tuurn up in the uK.

    But thanks for the info.

Hi, all components used to make the stands were designed by TMA, then individually out-sourced to the best suited manufacturers. At least 4 sources were involved, before the components came to TMA for final inspection and packing.

In a nutshell there is no single place where Calliope stands could be bought (ignoring for a moment that the design is now owned by IAG anyway).

Hi, there is no need to be nasty  .

The tooling is certainly with IAG, hence even knowing the manufacturers' names (which I can't remember) wouldn't be of any help.

caleb....As you can see, your ill-considered post has been met with the reply it deserves.

Udo has always been extremely helpful, and very forthcoming with whatever information and help he has been able to offer since TAG's demise, and I think that posts such as this will obviously be seen as somewhat ungrateful.

How about finding a more polite way to ask for further information in the future.

    Hi Caleb,:hiya:

Thanx for trying to help me find a way to get some calliope stands.

Am sure your comments were not intended to come over the way they did.

Please help me out here and confirm that :lease: as I feel sorta responsible for asking the question and having this bad feeling result.

    Thanx Udo for the information.

Anyone got any calliope stands for sale? :)

Just my opinion about Udo - he tends to be a bit vague sometimes.
I never did beleive in political correctness - people tend not to get the message.

Hi Caleb, firstly I try to be helpful. I surely have never been deliberately vague, but please bear in mind that I might be careful when making statements as I need to judge what might be considered "confidential insider information" which isn't for me to reveal as I am still bound by a confidentiality agreement which survived even the end of my former employment contract with TAG McLaren Group.

...but the "bound by a confidentiality agreement which survived even the end of my former employment contract with TAG McLaren Group" is with TAG Mclaren Group not IAG, right?...

speculum and caleb....I think that pressing Udo on details that he may be contractually bound not to disclose, plus the details of said contract,is both pointless and irritating.

Since Udo provides help here on an entirely voluntary basis, and in his own time, please try and respect that.

Come on.... I'm just teasing Udo! :rotfl:

...and everybody knows by reading this thread that the perfect answer from Udo would be "you can source all the parts from this list of suppliers for one fourth of the price", or am I wrong?

I hope that Udo stays with us for a long, long time!

...and specially every now and then give us some inside stories about the product we all use! :lesson:

Probably true, for thos that own Calliopes, but as Udo has already indicated, that isn't possible,so I feel since he's made that clear, plus his obvious reply earlier in the thread, that it should be left alone.

I also hope he remains in contact for the forseeable future, and would rather it remained that way.

Why so picky about the pricing? To actual develop products you have quite a lot money to spend upfront. The components are not the dullest & cheapest.

Anyone deciding to go for a non "mass-market" product will have to pay for that luxury. See Udo comments about the development of remote controls.

I have experienced that with many other products in the same way. You get what you pay for.

I'm still happy with my TMA Kit. Would love to buy more "new".

    Cheers

There were some auctions on Ebay in Germany selling Aphrodite's. Often it was mentioned that a stand would be available.
Have a look to " Audio-Markt.de". Set the filter to TMA and watch. Just ask the sellers of Aphrodite systems if they sell up the stand separately.

    Cheers
