I would have a look here mate. They have a great selection and have lots of user reviews of each mp3 player. They are reliable as well.

I was never a fan of MP3 in general, until I bought the missus a new 20GB IPod. NOw Ive been converted. Excellent machoine, great sound quality (with good compression and a better pair of headphones rather than the supplied ones).

at over £200 its over my budget as she wants other things as well. I noticed , though, a second hand one in Amazon for £150. Are these things Windows mx compatible?

If it's the iPod you're asking about, then the answer is yes you can play them back through an amp. I bought an iPod Moster cable to connect my iPod to my AV Amp and it sounds good. Not sure what you mean by Windows mx compatible though

I'm currently using the Creative Labs Nomad MuVo. You almost get everything including FM radio, Bulit-in Microphone, 5 Band EQ etc. Also, you can drag-and-drop your files easily.

John g are you saying that onlyiPods can be connected tom av amps and not regular mp3 players?
What I meant was an mp3 players that can be connected to a pc as opposed to an Apple Mac

I would imagine that most mp3 players can be connected to av amps. The Ipod has the advantage of having a line-out facility on the docking station that is far superior to it's headphone output.
