I want to listen to my own music on CD, whilst playing a game on the XBOX and listening to its sound effects.
Both inputs are digital. But can any amp help me?

I just go for the simpler solution of turning my TV speakers back on and listening to music on the amp!

Yup, game sound from TV speakers, turn off in-game music, play CD through amp, eh voila!

Ahhhh, Xbox, you want 5.1 sound effects and your own music...think you're buggered myself without spending mucho cash. I can't find anything searching here.

Buy a second stereo, it's probably cheaper!

Using a projector - so not able to get 'sound through the TV'
With all of the fancy stuff you can do with amps these days,
I can't believe none of them can do this!

SO your asking for an amp that can output 2 inputs at the same time. I can listen to an audio cd while playing my xbox but I can't hear the effects of the game. Some games will let u put your own cd in for background music while playing the game...I think the Grand Theft Auto series does this...but I know of no amps that allow simultaneous output of 2 different audio sources.

I don't really want to go down the copying to xbox route as only a few games support it, and even then I'm not sure if they support it in the same directory.
    It was only a thought.

If you don't mind having stereo output from Xbox you might be able to do it with a straight stereo 2 or 4 input mixing desk...maplin or CPC might have something like this.

i.e. a separate box you plug 2-phono from Xbox and 2-phono from CD player into, then feed 2-phono output into a spare amp input.

    Something like this maybe:

For ease of use I usally just crank up my Computer speakers and play my music there and listen to my xbox through the home theater

Mango Bob, had an idea that this would work, but loosing the 5.1....
Poolsharkie69, I don't have any other speakers or amps in the room (or any more room for that matter)
I guess I will just switch between the two.

Such a good point... I've been waiting for this since the late 90's and I too can't believe none can do this.
