    ....TV which is not HD-Ready, but has a resoultion of 1366 x 768 and a component input display 720p?

    I have one: it can be done.
    If you have an HDMI/HDCP source, then you will need an HDCP decoder.
    The forthcoming Sky HD box will have component outputs that you should be able to use. Not sure if ALL programming will be available, though.
    It may be better performing, more convenient and cost effective to do it with an HD ready set, though.

    Depends on the TV. The resolution of the screen is no guide as to what it can actually display.
