I have Polk Monitor 70s as front speakers with Monitor 50s as surrounds. I have a CSi3 Center & a PSW12 sub. I bought alm of these speakers new in 2007. I bought a pair of Polk RTiA speakers as front height speakers this year. I also bought a Sony STR-DN1080 this year when a lightening bolt killed all of my electronics.

I have been considering a new subwoofer & a new center channel speaker to improve my audio experience. The center channel speakers I have been looking at have been $250-$350 each. Then I noticed I can buy a new Monitor 70 Series II for $179 on Amazon. The idea of 3 Monitor 70s as LCR speakers became very appealing. Having all 3 speakers standing would be the ideal placement of these speakers, but due to space constraints, this would be difficult for me. Then I wondered if I could lay the additional Monitor 70 on its side under my 65" 4K TCL TV to use as the center channel.

I know this isn't optimal, but I would like to know what negative results would be created by listening to this speaker on its side. How badly would the horizontal placement affect the audio?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.
