I have an ASUS laptop that’s a couple of years old now (Windows 10) and I recently tried to burn a CD for the first time in a while. This failed so I used a ONE FOR ALL branded cleaning disc to try and clean the drive. It made quite a noise so I removed it and realised that the little brush that’s attached to the cleaning disc was starting to come off (the noise was probably it hitting part of the drive as it spun!). Now it won’t read any CDs or DVDs, I’ve tried a few but it just spins the disc as usual but Windows doesn’t seem to be able to read it. Can anyone suggest something I can try next (aside from getting a whole new drive)?

Thanks

If its not used much you can pick up an external drive for about £15 off ebay.

Thanks, I’ve actually got an old laptop but I think the drive in that one still works, I’ll give that a try first.
