    hi,
on the subject of camera care can anyone tell me how often i should subject my cam to a tape head cleaner and for how long?

    quick silly one!
does using my cam as a deck for editing through pc, involve head use and abuse?

You should really let the camera tell you when it detects dirty heads, tape cleaners should be played for a 10 second burst, no more.

Yes, using your cam as a deck will invlve more wear, but given that decks start at £700, then it isn't really a choice for most home users.
