how do I transfer digital video footage to disc via my laptop ? what program is idiot proof. Thanks
if your camcorder has a firewire port, use that and something like adobe premiere LE.
Yep, if it already has a firewire port, all you need is a DV cable, attach it to laptop and 'corder, and edit away. I think that firewire cards can be bought if it doesn't have one, and you can get s/w bundels that work out good value.
Other editing s/w to think about: Pinnacle's studio8/ ulead/ as well as the one mentioned by taimur
Windows xp movie maker from xp plus! easily and cheaply available easy to use and relatively foolproof.
I agree that your easiest and simplest to use software option would be MS Movie Maker. This is supplied free as part of Win XP, but you really need to get the free upgrade from the MS web site to MM2.
If you don't have XP then Studio 8 from Pinnacle is a very good option.
If you do not have firewire then you can get a PCMCIA card to add firewire from the likes of www.ebuyer.co.uk and this should be supplied with software and a firewire cable to connect the camcorder to the laptop.
