Emailed Cambridge support today to ask if they are likely to add MP3 functionality to the dv89 player as it seemed daft the 79 model supports it!!
It appears that the player can do it but due to a "liciencing mix up" it was disabled on the production machines. Anyway I was pointed me to a post on this forum extract below -
"this hack seems to enable VCD playback this is based on the DVD57 hack i found on the internet
1. Press setup button to enter Setup Menu
2. Select speaker set-up from advanced menu (new bit)
2. Press 9,2,1,0 in sequence to enter version page
3. Select "support mode" item and select "on"
4. Switch off, and then re-start
5. Upgrading done.
This also seems to allow MP3 playback also - "
Now I have sent mine back to Richers as it did not play MP3's
.....if anyone has one of these would they like to try it out???
And if they do try it could you let me know if it works and more specifically if the player will support DVD MP3's??
Cheers
