Has anyone heard any of the new CA amps? Are there any simularities to the Tag ones. They appear to be working on a new higher end ones.

Yes- it isn't really the finished item yet so it isn't fair to comment.

There is one key similarity inasmuch as Doug Self (the designer) was at TMA before AP but the 740A doesn't really have much in common with the TAG stuff as it will have its own patent and AES white paper to explain its differences. It should prove an interesting product when it is released later this year.

It is the Douglas Self bit that intersts me, great designer of amps in my book, hence the Question

Again, keeping the details reasonably scanty, I can say that TMA weren't overly interested in this design, not I suspect because it was too radical but more because £600 stereo amps were never considered core business by them. Perhaps to their detriment.

Are you talking about the new "740" range? I must admit, they do look pretty interesting. I'm surprised (but happy) to see CA trying to compete with Roksan/Cyrus/MF/Arcam in the £600 amp segment.

Not sure how many they'll sell in Richer Sounds though  !!

Bluntly- they won't. Consider this more for the benefit of our 32 other distributors :).

I didn't say there was anything wrong with RS, my comment was merely implying that they tend to focus on the ultra-budget end of the market, and that not many of their customers would consider buying a £600 stereo amp.
