    Hi,

I just can't decide - which of these two receivers, CA 540R or Yamaha V661, should I buy ? Cambridge produces decent sound (I'm going to listen to 2.0 audio a lot as well), but on the other hand, Yammy has a few features which may be useful, such as YPAO, HDMI I/O, programmable remote control.
And Yamaha 6 series is said to perform well too.
    The prices are similar.
Can you help me to choose ?

    Thanks,
    RD

Having owned a number of Yamahas, I would say you will have to choose between these features:

    Yamaha:

    Lots of DSPs
    Very good in HT
YPAO(and all the other bells and whistles)
Power delivery does not match claimed specifications
    Mediocre in Stereo

    and

    CA 540R:

    Great in stereo
    Good in HT
Power delivery on par with specifications
    Zero bells and whistles

It's never easy deciding. I've not heard the Yammy but can just say I am very pleased with my 540R v2. It has bags of punch and you really don't need lots of "features". It's really easy to set up and remember the sound is the important factor  and that can only be decided by you. Mind you I have never heard mine in stereo as I use an integrated for driving the fronts.

Unfortunately you have to decide if you need all the extras and also which of the two sounds best to your ears:)
