So: here's the new thread - can you guys give us some information? Specs? Timeframe? Price? Free available samples for me? Especially info about the AV amps 540r, 640r & 740r.

Wow, CA really seem to have their heads screwed on right with those products. The 740A and 740C in particular look very interesting :), no sign of an AV bypass input though. :(

Yea, but i doubt they will replace the 540r budget wise!!! i mean most people going for the 540r are looking for a quality budget amp but i doubt these new models will be anywhere near the price range!!

Looks like the relevant post has been deleted I'm afraid, it was a corporate presentation.

I don't understand why my post was deleted. The presentation is hosted on the website of the company who import Cambridge in France : so it is more than official.

If Cambridge authorises this presentation on this website, I don't understand why we cannot put a link on this forum.

    Can somebody explain?

For those interested, look at the dealer for Cambridge in France, you will find their website and the presentation is there.

    Seen it !!

Looks good, however looks like a 'full size' amp.

540R was 'low profile', this looks more like the standard (i.e. rather too large for my unit!) size amp. :(

Certainly- I'm afraid I have been stuck on the M1 for a bit.

I have asked Stuart to remove the link and also our French distributor to remove the information from their site. This is nothing personal but some of the products detailed in the link are sufficiently far from release to be unfinalised in terms of spec and appearence- there are at least three points incorrect that I saw in under a minute. This means that the information is misleading and of no benefit to us or you in the long term. There is also the small matter of a little bit of secrecy being a good thing.

I am very pleased to see the positivity of the comments of those of you who did see the link and I assure you that just as soon as I am allowed to, I will make details available on both our website and those who wish to see it here.

    Thank you for your understanding.
    Ed- Cambridge.

Looking forward to it Ed, CA might be onto a Skoda type revival IYKWIM. Your comments elsewhere about the stereo amp are very encouraging. Please can there be an AV passthrough circuit! :)

Thanks for the reply Ed. I only thought that it was a public presentation as it was on an official website.

Same parent company- I was hired for MS in 2003 but I now do just as much stuff for Cambridge Audio & Opus Technologies. Keeps me off the street :).

I see Cambridge Audio are moving a bit more upmarket with a new amp and cd at around the £500 mark - really wish they did more expensive AV amps and dvd players as I would definitely buy them.

Sorry Ed, I just can't resist this!

Will the 640R at least have a decent manual?

I have been asked this question by a HK owner and I have mailed CA support, but to no avail. Maybe you can help Tof?

As you know HK publish the RMS rating of their amplifiers as well as the max current sent to the speakers. Now the HK owner asked me how much current the 540R is capable of.

I was about to look at the 540 however, my local richer sounds could not demo it at all - i wanted to compare with a sony at the same price - they said I could exchange in 14days - so I put off purchase until I get over to reading where they have a demo centre.
But i may wait now and see what comes out
i'll watch this thread with interest
