Will the player be a universal or will it only have DVD-A?

Depends on whether Sony/Philips grow up and make the license easier to obtain for smaller companies. Currently the answer is no SACD.

Not confimed yet due to the fact the basic firmware hasn't been decided. There will be a digital video output but which one it is is dependent on a choice that I have no knowledge of.
The 640R is more decided and is a 7x100 watter with some clever and pretty unique socketry on the back.

    Tons,
Is the 640r going to be late first quater of 2005 or maybe, just maybe a little bit earlier  and will it have an audio delay function.
As an owner of the 640A and 640C and in the process of looking for a receiver, I'm getting desperate!! :lease:

640R is testing currently. It might creep in before the end of the year but equally could be early 2006.

Has anyone on here bought this tasty-sounding bit of kit? A quick google didn't produce too many mentions of it (other than the CA website), and a colleague at work suggests that CA only sells their products thru Richer Sounds. Can't see it on RS's site either, so basically I'm asking for confirmation that it's actually currently available?

I'm hoping to spend around £1k on a complete re-fresh of my hi-fi gear, and this kinda product sounds quite exciting!!

    Cheers ... soulboy

No, it's not yet available, as tons of fun says above late this year or early next for release - I'm afraid !!

Sorry, just realised your speaking about the 640H, not the 640R :( :boring:

OK, I have now established that my local Richer Sounds (Glasgow) has this neat-looking bit of kit, and the 'matching' amplifiers in stock - any recommendations as to what kind of speakers I should match the CA gear up with? My preference would be floorstanders.

I don't suppose anyone has read any reviews of the 640H? I'm curious as to the mechanics of getting it to interact (wirelessly) with my PC - potential of having 360GB of music on tap!!!!!!

    Thanks again ... soulboy

Soulboy, Sure you've read the 640H thread and some user experiences at http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=264867 ?

Tons was on this thread plenty about the new products CA have coming. He kinda dried up on the other thread when the questions were a bit more challenging. Let's give Ed the benefit of the doubt and maybe he has a few days off?

It seems at least What Hi-Fi who will run their review in next issue have read the thread so must be aware some of the concerns so hopefully they look into those for the review.
