Hello

Father is intruiged about the Whatley (somerset stone quarry) to Hamworthy Nr Poole stone trains. Is the stone going for export on to ships Or..... This is very big news For Dad and his camera. How long has this been in operation. All that used to come out of Hamworthy Branch line which goes down to Poole ro ro terminal was a regular Steel train.

Anyone help

Thanks for the above. Was wondering what was happening to the road stone when it got to Poole. Guess a trip out to have a look as the area is so accessible at the port would be an idea. But we were just trying are luck on hear to see if we could get more in depth response. We read that if the weymouth relief road goes ahead. Quarry trains will be going into Weymouth. But the route is not yet decided. Whether to use the castle cary line or the round trip through Salisbury Bournemouth Poole. There also Sand trains going to wool and running round (engines changing ends) @ Dorchester. So a quite boring line now has some intresting traffic.
