    Hello all

    Need your feedback here guys.

    I have recently taken to creating my own video CD's from archive VHS material (home video), and have come across an annoying problem.

    Whilst normal VCD's play ok, SVCD's (Super video CD's) have a lip synch problem.

    After doing a bit of research, this appears to be a known problem with the Tosh firmware.

    Now - while this is "fixable" by introducing an artificial delay into the sound portion of the mpeg file, this obviously presents a problem when using the disc on another player (I was hoping to be able to send some of the discs to family/friends).

    Questions are:

    1. Have any of you experienced the same problem?
    2. Have any of you got the problem fixed?

    Thanks for the responses in advance.

    Cheers

    Laurel

    PS Other than this, I'm very happy with the 210. Excellent machine for the price (and I paid £215 last year!)

    Well it seems I'm alone on this one, however for those interested, since posting I've emailed Tosh for feedback and received the following:

    So decent service here from Tosh. I'll just have to see now about the retailer.

    Cheers

    I posted something similar on New Years day (Ah that brings back memories) under the title of "Hints for Toshiba DVD Player Owners", mine came out at 1.4 by the way so I at least seem to have the right firmware. Cheers for the confirmation. :)

    Hey Guys

    Glad someone is listening!

    Zone

    Read your post - your mind was thinking the same way as mine. I thought - handset hack/cd firmware upgrade??? I'll see what I can get hold of here.

    Went in to see the retailer at the weekend, and explained the problem. Of course the guy had never heard of any problems. Then I played my card;

    "If you can obtain the firmware upgrade for me - I'll even do it myself".

    One phonecall later, and he tells me;

    "Bring in your player, and we will send it back to Toshiba for you".

    So no joy on obtaining anything there.

    I think Tosh are keeping a firm lid on this to prevent information getting out. Seems to be working as well.

    What we need is someone who used to work for Toshiba tech!

    Anyone????

    Cheers

    Laurel
