what speakers do you use with this amp?

I have this amp but I have a hotch potch of speakers because I didn't get round to buying the missions I was intending to buy a year go.

I wasn't intending on purchasing an amp in this league but I had a rush of blood (I'm still in a cold sweat wondering if I've done the right thing).

Consequently I haven't researched speakers in a price bracket to match an amp like this. How much should I be spending and what are the stars I should be auditioning?

    Any advice welcome.

    Current speakers
    front: ruark talisman
    centre: MS10is
    rear: Castle Durhams

I have Monitor Audio Gold Ref fronts with my AV11SR and love them for HT and music.

Your Ruarks and Castles should be good, not sure about your centre, I should not rush out and buy any speakers until you have tried what you have.

For anyone reading this thread, notice that Rel Subs are the most popular choice!

No, I don't work for Rel, but I have tested other Subs.

    Regards

    Speaker Specs for my 11SR

M&K S-85's for fronts and front centre
    M&K SS-150THX Dipole Rears
    M&K VX-100 Subwoofer

Incredible, however, need a bigger subwoofer.

Incidentially, I have posted this elsewhere but this is just the place for a reply......."I have the Denon 11SR and it was mentioned in the HCC Review that the 00db is not reference level which was unusual for a THX Amplifier.

Does anyone know what the volume should sit at for this machine to experience reference level ? "

    Thanks

    eddiea,

thanks for replying (infact cheers to everybody whose replied). I think the Ruarks and Castle's sound great but ultimately I like the idea of having the kind of homogonous sound that can only be had by having matching speakers.

I think I'm probably better off getting a sub first, and judging by this thread REL seem to be a favourite. I then thought that I would fill in the gaps at the front centre and the ex rear channel but these would have to be able to match any front and side channels bought at a later date.

I did think about getting a castle set up as I've been a big fan during my hifi days of the past 18 years, but they don't make dedicated rear speakers. If I was buying today, at the kind of price I could afford, I think I would choose MA silver series kit
ie:8i, 12,5i, and fxi's. I also like the look of the Mission 782, 78c,780 & 78ds. I don't really think my room could stand anything bigger.

Interesting to see Stewart using M&K gear. This sort of thing did fleetingly cross my mind as I believe the boxes are not monsters, but I think these would be too much home cinema and not enough hifi for my needs, plus my credit card would be at the max.

    Thanks again,

    NGS

Whatever way you go I think you would do well. The M&K's do hit the pocket quite a bit, but musically they are sensational, if that's your only concern.

You won't be disappointed with your investment.

Audition the Ruark Contemporary series. Not sure on the total cost but maybe around £2000 with sub.

Absolutely brilliant for SACD or DVD-A as well as stereo.

Movies are sensational. Will go well with your Denon methinks.
