Hi,

I have just bought a Pio 435 plasma for £1635, which I thought was a good price, and I'm well pleased with the picture, and I couldn't justifty paying an extra £1000  just for better blacks. Alot of people knock the 435, but I have seen the 436 in action, and I can't see there is much differance in picture quality, or am I just being thick

So come on Pio 435 owners, tell me what you think of your plasma :lease:

Cheers

Lofty

Nah, only the FDE, but I got sky+ so I didn't need the digital tuner, and I've got my own amp, so I didn't need the attached optical out, and I've got a graphics card with an s-video out, so I thought I might aswell go for the FDE option, as I would be paying extra for things I didn't need

i've had mine for a few months now and am still in awe of it. The 5 gets a lot of stick about "black levels" usually from non owners wanting to justify why the went for the panny or gonna wait till whatever comes along b0ll0x

I would put my xde up against any panny or even the 436, I LOVE IT :rotfl:

A friend watched mine for the first time a couple of days ago. We saw "Sin City" You want blacks? He was knocked out!

Do get your screens ISF calibrated though. It makes a stunning difference and is worth every penny.

I have had my 435 since April. Was very disappointed first time I turned it on.

BUT Now...

Its fantastic. I paid £2600 in April. Worth every penny.

The picture got better everytime I turned it on.

Not sure what this "Black" Issue is. I can not see it. All the blacks look fine to me. Some Sky channels look horrid but most of the High Band width channels are great. Dont Watch Footie, My 868 looks amazing.

For that sort of money, as long as you like it thats all that matters

I also have the 435 XDE, stunning picture in every respect, mine doesn't make any buzzing noises like some people keep suggesting, maybe i got lucky.

I have the PDP-435XDE since August. Picture quality is good, off course depending on the source. However I have problems with the Home Gallery function. Cannot get that working with JPEG pictures from a Sony MemoryStick.

When reading this forum I was nearly scared out of a 435, you get so brainwashed by a few people who claim it is bad and the Pannie's is the best you can get...And guess what, when I went shopping I had to admit that they were all right! This was a real shame as the Panny's are just so large for a screen who's display is actually smaller, and then the ugly silver surround. Really distracting. But the picture looked good in most of the shops we went into...
That is until I saw a Pioneer 5 properly setup, I remember asking is it the 436? Show's how brainwashed you can get...But nope it was a 435...Then I was in another shop, Richer Sounds of all place and again I was stunned by the quality...
So I did get the Pioneer 435 and are loving it! A larger display to view, yet so much smaller than anything on the market....

But yes I agree, against that beautiful deep piano black surround, and on-screen black looks white ;-) Just like against that whitish silver panny surround any on-screen black look really deep....

Anyway I really don't know what this Pioneer knocking is on this forum. Reminds me of the Velodyne knocking years ago...I bet that soon a positive thread like this will be deleted ;-)

Well i'm in the other camp on this..the black levels just don't cut it for me (in reduced lighting conditions), hence mine is currently for sale on fleabay. During daytime viewing it's great or when leaving the main lights on it's less noticeable. I watched the new Amityville movie on it the other night which has a lot of dark scenes (suprise, surprise) and it made my mind up to look elsewhere. If this doesn't bother you then it's a great piece of kit.

Cheers,

Shaun
