I'm interested in buying the 'Philips 28PW6006C' but I've heard that they (Philips) have a lot of problems with their stuff...

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to insert links to other Forums, but here goes -

I've heard a lot of good stuff about them, but this has kinda worried me a bit...sigh...don't need the kind of grief I had when I tried to buy a TV from SkyBuy...

I had the 24PW6006C for over a year and a half, its my main telly and its been fantastic, not had any problems with it. In fact my next telly is most probably going to be another Philips, can't praise it more than that.

The 32PW6006 (mine) was known for dark RGB probs, so double check this and some dark banding down the far left and right.

My only comment would be, having sold Philips products, is that there were quality control issues.

I recently did a check on Philips DVD recorders, and found that on forum after forum the quality issue hadn't changed as they were packed with complaints. I bought the Panny HS2 as result.

I recently looked into buying this very set, but found that there are rather too many "re-furbs" of Philips sets (including this one) on the market. This normally means that the product has been returned for a fault, but has been replaced for a new model by the retailer. It doesn't look good when you see a whole load of these on ebay etc.

I know some are returned because the customer doesn't like them, or for cosmetic problems, but the majority are for faults. This is pefectly above board as long as they warn you in the advert.

Its not a bad set though, if it works!!! :)

Had my Philips 36PW9525 for over 3 years now (at least) and its been perfect. Both picture and build quality is amazing and I really can't complain at all. But I can't comment on recent Philips models.
