    Hi

I need to know something from you. Does your RC-970 rattle??? I mean when you shake it, does it sound like theres a small piece of plastic knocking around inside??

Only ask as mine does... Ive been told its the sensor inside that is moving Sounds kinda plausable as some tilt switches can make a noise but i cant make my mind up whether its that or a tiny screw floating about inside...

Very odd.... your views/experiences much appreciated

    :)

    Yes.

It is indeed the 'mechanism' that detects when the remote is picked up/moved.

Wouldn't do that too vigorously, it's not the most robust piece of kit. If you use it like maracas ;) , you run the risk of it staying lit up permanently or never illuminating again.

Thanks for the replies men.... very funny some too :D

Didn't realize so many people thought the same thing...

I think we all agree the RC is a cracking remote and works from virtually anywhere in the room. The old RC with the 3802 was total rubbish and you had to be dead infront of the receiver to get it to work..

    Thanks

Hmmmm. Sounds more like a ball bearing rolling than mercury sloshing round.
Also, wouldn't have thought that mercury would be a good idea in consumer kit as its toxic.

Seriously though, I don't really care much for the remote and think its a bit of a missed oppertunity. Good idea, but I think that the need to keep production costs down has resulted in a flimsy build quality that feels tacky. I've had to have mine replaced as some of the keys refused to light.

The only thing I'd change about it is to have the teeny tiny likkle words for the functions a bit larger as it can be difficult to operate whilst under the afluence of incahol...

:lesson: Not at all :rotfl: I've got a 3802 and think its got a cracking remote. Although not the most intuitive, its the most powerful remote I've ever come across and certainly does not need to be pointed at the amp or other gear to work.

Mine rattles, too... Spoke to the dealer who I bought it off, and he said that his does the same - but would nevertheless ask Denon for a replacement. Must call him back to see how he's got on...

Note that i have a One for All Kameleon6, which I had bought before, which uses the same EL technology, and it does NOT rattle at all (and in fact, feels of a HQ).
