    Hi THFC...

Yep... played the demo... thought it was fantastic as well...

Release date is Nov 7th I believe... I shall be there.. money in hand...

Apparently they wanted to capture the intensity of the 'beach landing' from MOHAA and stretch it out to the whole game (its the same team that programmed MOHAA).

If the demo is anything to go by... I think they succeeded!

You know the release date - excellent

The best part of the demo to me is when you get hit or a mine nearby explodes the screen shakes and your onscreen image and actions blur and your performance deteriorates as if you have shell shock or so on

    Seems very realistic

2 Demos? I've played one (set in a town where you have to blow up some AA gun things). What's the second one?

The COD website says that a second demo is coming soon.

    Played through it already :)

Was a bit miffed at having to keep running back and getting panzerfaust, but I suppose that makes it a bit more realistic than carrying a dozen different weapons and hundreds of rounds for each one.

I'm really looking forward to the full game :D

The Dawnville demo is very good, and I must admit I found the best part to be the old blurry eyed wobbly legs effect too:D

This is going to be, without doubt, the most important fps this year if Half Life 2 ends up slipping to next spring.

I thought that the WW2 genre had been well and truly done to death until I played this demo - almost everything about it is exactly right in terms of balanced gameplay and atmosphere. It's just a classic in the making.

Suddenly all the delays for HL2 just don't seem so bad - cuz we've got this to amuse ourselves in the meantime :)

I'm really hoping that the multiplayer side of things turns out to play alot like the single player too - imagine how hectic 20+ player servers would get in the kind of environments on display in the demos - fantastic! :D

Don't know where the Dawnville one is but i've been playin what i believe is another leaked demo of 5 maps. The original level , a bridge level with Brits , a russian city level and one where you spend ages zipping round in a jeep. It was a Bit Torrent download and all maps are truely amazing.
Looking forward to buying the full thing soon and also have great hopes for the multiplayer aspect.

I got Dawnville from FilePlanet, but I'm sure there are plenty of other mirrors about.

The more I hear about this game, the more interested I get. Now that Day of Defeat has gone to the dogs (ie, Steam), I might have to check this out.

I've been on DOD since v1.0 and still enjoy playing but as you say Steam is kinda screwing things up. Not played multiplayer COD yet but it if it plays anything like the single player it'll be great.

Multiplayer looks interesting, there are 5 modes, the 2 normal ones DM and Team DM.

There is a mode called behind enemy lines. This seems very strange, the gist is that you have a lot of axis soldiers and a few allied soldiers. You get points for being allied, if you are axis you have to shoot the allied, you then swap places. You get bonus points for shooting axis players while allied. Haven't got my head round this one really and will require a play to see how it goes!

The other modes are a defusal mode and retrieval. Both are similar to CS ie you have one life and play in teams. Defusal is obviously defuse a bomb. Retrieval is simliar to RTCW type missions, where you have pick up an objective and take it somewhere, with one team attacking and the other defending.

Actually, that all sounds really interesting :)

I think the CS-style of play with one life per round could work really well on those atmospheric maps - imagine the tension, trying to root out a sniper whose well dug in across a street, with all that noise and background activity going on like in the demo.

That would be an awesome experience, to be sure.

If they pull this off, Call of Duty could be the best all-round 'complete package' of a game that's been released in ages.

I just can't wait, damnit!

I much prefer the spawning games than the 1-life system that CS uses, so I'm hoping the multiplayer game types are flexible enough to cover both of these. If not, I guess I'll have to adapt.

That deep under cover type sounds very interesting. The GameSpot preview details it pretty well. They also go over the feature that I'm waiting most for... The Kill Cam!

This is gonna be great . In a way i'm glad HL2 has slipped 'cause there's a flood of good games coming at the moment. I recieved Hidden & Dangerous 2 the other day and that's proving to be a superb game (both single & multiplayer). The way they've made it as accurate as possible (regarding weapons, uniforms etc) is amazing. Lots of different environments too - Jungle, desert, artic etc. It's also not too buggy (if you remember the first game was as buggy as hell but the gameplay over rode this flaw). It looks georgeous with every thing graphical switched on (and 4xaa) and runs at a good speed (unlike halo). I've been averaging pings of about 30 on multiplayer on localish server (about 120 on ones in the usa).
Soldner, XIII, S.T.A.L.K.E.R and Breed are all on the horizon too. Good job I haven't got a life really lol:rotfl:

Call of Duty is already out here in Canada and the US i believe. Ive seen many people posting about beating the game and mentioning some of the levels on Cod fansites. I still have to wait another week or so inorder to buy :( but the game still rocks!

its a good game. Not much original to it though.

Bit of a Medal of Honour clone. Some nice touches though. Definately worth getting.

Just ordered this to-day from Play.com as i'm working all weekend and no access to shops.Anyone know Play's release policy as in may i actually get the game on Friday?

    Cheers.

    General Panic

P.S played this all day yesterday in multiplayer as a pal of mine ordered a copy from the US which came out last week.
Initially we both thought way better than MOH and RTCW but not as good as DOD. After 6 hours of play we now think this is the no.1 multiplayer WW2 game out there. The maps and layout and graphics are outstanding and in one session of 3 hours we were in a 48 player game. Bit of lag now and then but very playable indeed. Can't wait to get my mitts on my copy now. :)
