yeah, ive been gettin into it a lot, some of the bigger tank based maps are absolutely great. like ponri, kharkov, etc and then also great close up room to room action on maps like arnheim.

IT is a great online experience, ive pretty much given up playing other fps' online in favour of cod

Na... COD is great - best one i've played so far. RTCW-ET is good especially for free but COD's better IMO. DOD is still up there and when the Source version finally comes out that should be great!

Nah . . . ET is great - best one I've played so far.

ET IMO is a better teamplay based game, COD (again IMO) is just glorified TDM

I just find COD great fun to play with some superb maps. I would agree that ET has a higher emphasis on Teamwork, but that said i've played some great games on COD working as a team as well. Each to everyones own I guess. ET is free so people may as well try it out but my personal preference is COD as it's easier to get into and provides a good quick action fix. Both great games though and to say one or the other is rubbish or a waste of money only shows that that person hasn't really given either game a proper go.

Christ for a worrying moment i thought this thread was about the xbox one!

But your right mate, the games amazing.

Its also scary how much different modes etc there are.

I was playing on a server the other day which was snipers only and you basically had to crawl and camp and snipe opponents from over 50m. Quality!

I gave COD a proper go, I spent £35 on it so I did "give it my best shot" pardon the pun, played a couple of clan games in it but in the end back with ET

I guess any game like this depends on the people you get to play against & with though. If you end up playing with a bunch of clowns & TKers then any FPS can become rubbish. If you like team based FPS's then (although it's not WWII) CS:Source is pretty much the best out there. It is hard and quite realistic though and requires quite a substantial investment of time to get good at. I played the original CS to death not long after it first came out and loved it after getting to a reasonable level.

I haven't played any games properly lately although I had a session on Battlefield 1942 last night as I was yearning to play it again. Great game IMO and I am tempted to give COD a try. Is it quite similar?

What is ET that people are talking about? Damn I feel such a n00b.

I found the game to slow, but i play Soldier Of Fortune 2 constantly. I absolutely love it, i think its the best multiplayer game out there even though its about 5 years old.

    @ Unreality

ET's full title is Return To Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory (RTCW:ET). ET was the intended sequel to RTCW but the single player element wasn't working out so they released it for free as online only. :smashin:

Great game which is consistently in the top two or three most popular online games and it's over two years old now, lots of mods out or in dev atm.

ET download and resource site (castlewolfenstein.com)

Give it a go, it's completly free, there seems to be alot going on at 1st as it's not a simple death match/ last man standing game but once you know what's what it's good fun

    enjoy . . . .

nope, the link I gave does list the full ET installation (257MB) it's just listed wrongly in the demo section of that site

    Here’s direct link: http://returntocastlewolfenstein.filefront.com/file/Enemy_Territory;14380

you will need the patch: http://returntocastlewolfenstein.filefront.com/file/ET_Patch_Windows;18627

To get on some of the better servers there is a "competition" mod called ETPRO which fixes some bugs, adds another anti cheat check system and adds loads of other features, available here: http://returntocastlewolfenstein.filefront.com/file/ET_Pro_318;33085

Talk about a coincidence - I found these great forums (as I'm about to buy the home cinema gear for my new house), and before I got a chance to post a request for help about my new system, I stumble across posts about Enemy Territory!

It's pretty humbling for me to hear you guys giving the game such praise, as I'm Paul 'Locki' Wedgwood; the Lead Game Designer of Enemy Territory and owner of Splash Damage.

    So, well - thanks!

Ah I think I tried ET out a while ago but I was quite lost with all the different classes etc but it sounds good and I will try definately it again. Cool to see the Lead Game Designer on here too, hello!

The only game I've played consistently over the last couple of years has been Battlefield 1942, there's so much to do on there and its really addictive. Battlefield 2 is out soon I believe, at least the demo is.
