This post may be a bit premature, as I have only tried out my AE100 on a white wall (since the HT Room isn't complete yet), but I did notice the default settings have the colour set too high. I noticed reds are too red and skin tones are not natural. When I turned them down, the picture was much more natural.

I also checked the default setting on my Panasonic TV and they also seem to be set to high.

And finally to my question, is there a proper way of setting up the projector other than by eye?

    Best Regards
    Amelia

I still find Video Essentials far more useful and less long winded

    Hi Walter,

If I remember correctly (Since I have put my PJ away as the room is being renovated), first click on the Menu button and then once the menu is up, use the up arrow to go to the Picture menu. once you press enter, you will see Colour, Contrast, Brightness etc.

    Hope this helps

Hey JSW & Mr.D , I have been trying to get my hand on either of these calibration DVDs, but no one seems to have them, can they be purchased from the net and if so where?

    Best Regards
    Amelia

There's also the Ultimate DVD Platinum available in Australia very cheaply. From what people have said, not as comprehensive, but at AU$24.95.....

    HTH!

If you use the RGB input (PC) you don't get colour (saturation): you can always tweak it at the PC end ( although I tend to go for the scoped settings available form the theatertek forum website)

If you are using a s-vid composite or component it should be in the picture menu.

The NTSC/PAL colour issues are such a big deal. If you use PAL60 the black set-up should be 0IRE and the colour should be valid PAL. If you are using RGB or component its even less of an issue ( these should always set-up for 0IRE with RGB its even more fuzzy as the video intensity raneg is being remapped entirely into a linear format )

In plain english its not such a big deal.

The other thing to try is the Phantom menace region2 which had a reasonably good PAL THX optimode on it which will handle the bulk of adjustments available to the average user.
