    Hi!
I'm thinking about ordering a DVD box set from the US costing £44.99.
I have read the sticky that has been posted on here about import tax.
I have calcualeted everything. I have never done this before- and also I'm not very good at maths

The total I came up with is £52.88 is that how much import tax I have to pay? I'm confused and stuck-pls help

I get; if vat is chargeable in the 4% duty

    £44.99 + 4% = £46.79
    £46.79 + 17.5% = £54.98

On top of this may be other charges i.e the £4 po fee etc.

No the £54.98 is the total cost, the import tax and vat is the difference between the £54.98 and £44.99 i.e £9.99

Don't forget that duty and VAT is also added to the delivery cost.

So if delivery is £10, the actual cost will be:

((£44.99 + £10)+4%)+17.5% = £67.20 (plus any fee you get charged by the PO or courier).
