    Hey all,

I have a question regarding hooking up a freeview or sky box to an amplifier. Is it better to connect using phonos or the digital connection? I always thought that if you connected through digital the amp would perform the DAC process. Am I wrong in thinking this?

I currently connect my digital radio using phonos rather than digital.

    Cheers,

    James :)

there is no digital connection on a sky box, however there is an optical connection on sky+, which if you want to receive 5.1 sound you will have to use.
Some freeview have optical connection and I would use this before the phono's

The Sony Sky boxes have an optical digital output.

If your amp has a suitable digital input I would use that rather than the analogue inputs.
