Cables wearing out?

    A man in my local Comet today told me that scart and other cables wear out apparently. They change theirs every 2 years, at Christmas.....

    Can't afford a decent aerial to show broadcast pictures properly though....

    was he mentioning this in the context of ... "they wear out so you'll need the extended warranty with those"... hahaha

    Yes, and he probably still believes in Santa....

    Some cables are just rubbish, typically the ones supplied for "free". Worth exactly what you paid for them. (Which is why I don't insult my customers with such cables).

    Do cables wear out? To a certain degree yes. Certainly keeping all the contacts clean is a good idea. If you do keep removing and inserting a cable, it will have a certain amount of wear. Over a very long time, the insulation will degrade. But this is over tens of years.

    This is absolute rubbish! There is no need to change your cables every two years, just have them re-gassed!

    ;)




    The man above is right, just give the contacts a clean every once in a while.
