Ok, onto a bit of loft work now before I paint and was wondering what sort of cables people are using.

Looking at CRT manuals they all seem to use 4 BNCs for RGB/Component connections. What sort of cable can you use so that the other end either has phono or 15pin monitor? otherwise surely your be swapping connections at the CRT end. Also what about length, 11m ok?

    Cheers

    Karl,

I usually use 5 core RGBHV cable......

What are you connecting at source end and at projector end?

    Well,

    Projector, probably a Cine 7.

These have 4 BNC inputs, so I want to connect a pc with a 15pin connector and also my dvd player which has component out.

Thing is, if i get a 15pin to BNC for the pc how do u change that for a phono to BNC for the DVD player (component out) without swapping the entire cable.

You use two seperate sockets on the Cine7. It has two sets of RGBHV inputs. One BNC's and the other not....I think...should really check...

I thought it only had 1, well if it has 2 then problem solved.
    What about cable lengths?

    Karl,

I meant I should check...so I went to Barco's web site and it says..."Inputs: Gold plated BNC" which is relatively useless!!!

12m should be fine. Use a good quality 5 core mini 75ohm cable or 5 runs of a good quality 75ohm video cable.

Ok, where can I get a good 75ohm 5 bnc to 5 bnc cable at 10m?
Also where can I get a BNC to phono adaptor?

There's this guy in Scotland who advertises on these forums. Called Gordon I believe. You could mail him at convergentav@btinternet.com......might be able to help with cables and adaptors...

    Maplins sell the adaptors too...

Couple of points here on inputs on the Cine 7.
For input of PC the Cine 7 has 5 BNC's RGBHV it is auto selective of sync. So an HD15 to 5BNC will be fine.
Gordon there is no second RGB input on the Cine 7.

To input component video you will need a simple switcher or the full RCDVS 05 (Remote Contol Data and Video Selector) from Barco at about £1700.(To work with a Cine 7 the RCVDS must be the new version)
Alternatively you will need to recable between PC and component.

For completeness the Cine 7 inputs are

    1 composite video on BNC
    1 S-Video video of 4pin din
1 set of 5 BNC's which will allow:-
    Component (inc progressive)
    RGsB (sync on green)
    RGBs (combined sync)
RGBH&V (seperate hor and vert syncs as in PC)

The above are selectable from the hand control.

    Thanks Gordon,

I thought the easiest way would be 5 BNC to 5 BNC then just get 3 BNC to phono adaptors for the compenent connection at the DVD end. That way I can leave the 5 BNC's into the projector permanently.
