What cable would you recommend for use with the following :

    a) Subwoofer
    b) Loudspeaker Cable ( main, centre and surround )
    c) Digital interconnect between DVD and AMP ( Audio ) - Coax preferably

    Thanks for the help.

    P;)

    Fjorko,

Depending on how much your looking to spend and what your system consists of.

Roughly about 10 - 15 % of what your system is worth !!!

    Cheers

Straight out of the richer sounds catalogue!

You don't have to spend anywhere near that IMO

Try CPC for decent quality cable at realistic prices (or indeed the classifieds here)

If you want real tangible improvements, save it for equipment upgrades.

    Subwoofer ... £10-£20
Speaker cable ... from £1 meter up for fronts, rears try B&Q (£10 for 25m 79strand stuff)
Digital interconnect ... £10 or so - get a standard composite Video cable

For all these you can obviously spend a lot more ... but this is sort of price you should be paying on the high street.

Specific recomendations are difficult without knowing your kit.

I don't think you know what i'm trying to say...

I don't want cheap stuff, but i don't want to buy a cinema house either.....

I just need GOOD quality cable and definitely NOT B&Q stuff !!!!!!!

Something like QED, IXOS, etc etc

I have IXOS scarts, but i need a good quality Coax for the DVD->AMP and a GOOD subwoofer cable and GOOD speaker cable

Any websites appart from www.hificables.co.uk ?

    Cheers

What kit do you have ... you could be asking for cables for a Sherwood Amp and Eltax speakers ... or you could have a Meridian 800 with Krell power amps and B&W Nautilus 800 ... there's no point making recomendations without knowing that.

Well to be honest...i just gave away all my HC kit to friends of me and my wife

I will be replacing all but my DVD player, Sky box, TV and VCR

So i'm in a rebuilding ( albeit a slow one ) process. I am researching ( i know it sounds crazy ) all my options and i'm just getting a feeling for what you guys would recommend and what you are using...

I'm planning on getting a mid-spec setup consisting of :

Mission V63 Fronts ( already have them )
    Mission V61 or dipole surrounds
Mission V6C centre and Surround Back
    Pioneer VSA-AX10i Amp
AE300 LCD or similar spec DLP projector

I know it's not the best , but hey that's how far my money will go !

All of this will be bought in stages and i think the speakers and amp is next.

Wow ... not heard of the Mission V63, etc speakers before - they certainly look nicer than the m7 and m5 ranges (IMO) ... what sort of price are they?

They have just come out of the mission camp...an believe me they sound so SWEET !!!

I got mine for £570 from a hifi shop in Bristol. There is only one vendor on the web that sells them as far as i can see.

    www.thehifistore.co.uk

also if you wanna see them look at www.mission.co.uk

    Cheers

is that £570 just for the floorstanding fronts or for the whole package?

(sorry about corrupting your thread ... I'm just curious where they fit into the whole scheme of things with Missions lineup)

From what I can see they seem to be prettier M5 series. But wouldnt they be outclassed by the planned Pioneer Amp, you could probably get away with spending less for nearly the same performance such as the Pioneer 2011 (the baby brother)? Back to the subject of cables you should spend a fair amount or you might miss out on a lot from the decent equipment you have planned. The general idea is 10% of total budget on cables but people never seem to agree on this.

    Sounddog :

Yes it's £570 just for the floorstanders

The Ax10 might outclass the speakers, although doubt it - i think they will work well together, but hey.......i don't like cheap stuff!

even if the amp is overkill, at least i have something that i can use if i do decide to upgrade the speakers again in a few years time.

    :D

PS. The wife just OK'ed the AX10 or AX10i ( whichever i like ) - she LIKES the look of it !!!Whooo hoooo !!!!!!!

Maybe i should change my mind and go for something a bit cheaper ;-)

Anyone know where i can get the AX10 or AX10i the cheapest ???

So far www.robertwhyteltd.co.uk is the cheapest at £2099 for the AX10i
